Sans Souci
Ocho Rios, Jamaica
April 6, 2004
Hi Penny,
I just wanted to tell you that we had a GREAT time in at Sans Souci
Resort & Spa in Jamaica! The Resort was beautiful and the staff was
completely accommodating and polite. We really enjoyed the food and, of
course, our complimentary spa services. The massages were given outside
(but still private) with views and sounds of the ocean, it felt like
heaven.
One night we had a Beach Grill Party. They arranged tables right on the
beach, served tons of buffet style food (including grilled lobster!) and
had a stage setup for entertainment. The second night was the Starlight
Gala. This time tables were setup on the main lawn with canopies covered
in lights and draped with a chiffon-like material, the tables were full
of every kind of food you could imagine, three carved ice sculptures,
and there was a stage with entertainment. It was
beautiful.
We took two excursions while we were there: Hooves and Dunn's River
Falls. I have no other horseback riding trips in Jamaica to compare itto,
but I would definitely recommend Hooves. They take you on horseback down
the side of a mountain and down to the beach where you ride through the
ocean on the horse, I was kind of scared but glad I did it. And of
course, Dunn's River Falls was great, a beautiful sight.
I would definitely want to go back!
Thanks,
Sherry Gagne

Dear Penny,
OUR 15TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND RE-NEWAL OF OUR WEDDING VOWS AT THE
GRAND LIDOS NEGRIL AND SAN SOUCI

We started off our two weeks in Jamaica at Grand Lido Negril. We had
not been to the resort in a couple of years. It has worn well. They have
done a great job at keeping the place in immaculate condition. I like
the way that the Superclubs have theme nights. And as always you have
the option to participate or not. The 5 nights in Negril just flew by.
Then off to the Grand Lido San Souci. Really great day with no hassle
getting from one location to another using Tim Air.

We simply cannot say enough about the Grand Lido San Souci. It is by
far the best of the best. The single most romantic resort in the
Caribbean. We had scheduled to re-new our vows on Valentine's Day. The
staff was unbelievably helpful. We had 2 days to prepare. I wanted to
surprise my wife with a few things, so I had been e-mailing the event
coordinator for a few months in preparation. (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SO THAT
ALL GOES OFF WITHOUT A HITCH.)
We had an
early morning service followed by photos throughout the resort with a
photographer. Upon arrival back at the room the staff had used 12 dozen
roses including a petal walkway from the door to the bed, a rose petal
heart and other really nice decorations. We spent the day reminding
ourselves how and why we love each other so much. In the late afternoon
we came out of our cocoon and sat out on our balcony. We also had
brought several dozen red and white heart shaped Mardi Gras beads. So we
did a little New Orleans thing and threw beads from our balcony to all
of the passing couples. Great fun!! At sunset a private dinner in the
same gazebo over the water where re renewed our vows that morning. After
dinner a moonlight stroll on the beach and then off to bed. THE MOST
PERFECT ROMANTIC DAY IN OUR LIVES.
We had a few days left for a honeymoon. We got brave enough to
venture to the nude beach and had a wonderful morning. Only about 5
couples and no gawking. And then the cruise people showed up. Apparently
the resort opens its nude beach to cruise ships now and again. We went
from the only people at the pool to one couple out of 40 in 10 minutes.
But not to worry, there are 2 other beautiful pools at the resort we
could enjoy. We spent the rest of the day at the mineral pool. It's not
just a myth. You feel 5 years younger after a day in the mineral pool.
What a great time.
The departure brought us to a dilemma. We were to take Tim Air back
to Mo Bay for a direct flight to Houston. We knew that all of our bags
would not make it so what to do? We sent most of our bags to Mo Bay on
the early bus and that way they were waiting for us when we got there
later in the afternoon. The concierge thought this was a great idea (and
apparently had never had the request before). So all went off without a
hitch. We have definitely found our new home in Jamaica; the GL San
Souci is the place.
Thanks for your help,
